Jong Je Sung is a board-certified general surgeon at Min Hospital in Seoul, where he operates on thyroid, gallbladder, hernia and anorectal disease and on appendicitis, and works in metabolic and bariatric surgery and in endoscopy. He qualified in surgery at Soonchunhyang University Bucheon Hospital and went on to teach at Soonchunhyang University, and headed the endoscopy centre at Daehang Hospital, a specialist colorectal centre. He is a certified bariatric and metabolic surgeon of the Korean Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, and holds subspecialty certification in colonoscopy. His published research includes a comparison of purse-string and conventional linear skin closure after loop ileostomy reversal, in the Journal of the Korean Society of Coloproctology.
