Kwang Yoon Jung is a board-certified otolaryngologist at Min Hospital in Seoul, treating thyroid cancer, salivary and head and neck tumours, neck masses, and disorders of the larynx and the voice. Qualified in medicine at Korea University College of Medicine, and spent an academic career at Korea University Anam Hospital as a professor of otorhinolaryngology, chair of the department at the college of medicine, director of the thyroid centre and deputy director of the hospital. Was the eleventh president of the Korean Society of Head and Neck Surgery. Has published extensively on thyroid and head and neck surgery. The most cited work, in Thyroid, identified the clinical risk factors for cervical lymph node recurrence in papillary thyroid carcinoma and has been cited more than 150 times. Other work covers malignancy risk in thyroid lesions of atypical significance, in Frontiers in Endocrinology; intraoperative management of the parathyroid glands and long-term parathyroid function after total thyroidectomy, in Diagnostics; and a histopathological location of the parathyroid gland that carries a high risk of unintended parathyroidectomy, in Gland Surgery.
