Min Hospital has surpassed 1,500 cumulative metabolic and bariatric surgeries, strengthening treatment reliability based on extensive clinical experience. The hospital attributes this achievement to its precision treatment strategy that considers both obesity and diabetes simultaneously.

Metabolic and bariatric surgery at Min Hospital aims not only for weight reduction but also for fundamental improvement of metabolic diseases, including diabetes. In clinical outcomes involving patients with early-stage diabetes, the hospital has reported a complete remission rate of 87 percent. These results demonstrate that metabolic surgery can serve as a practical alternative beyond conventional medication-based treatment. A key factor behind these outcomes is the hospital’s precision process, in which each patient’s disease stage and metabolic condition are carefully analyzed before selecting the most appropriate surgical method.

Notably, Min Hospital pioneered the early adoption and implementation of sleeve gastrectomy with ileal bypass (SASI) in Korea, expanding surgical treatment into the field of diabetes-focused metabolic therapy. The hospital currently performs a full spectrum of metabolic and bariatric procedures, including sleeve gastrectomy, Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, duodenal bypass, jejunal bypass, and sleeve gastrectomy with ileal bypass. This capability allows the institution to treat not only patients with obesity but also those with diabetes across a wide range of clinical conditions.

Postoperative care is another key strength of Min Hospital. The hospital operates a 24-hour one-on-one intensive care system following surgery to help prevent complications and support faster recovery. In addition, it maintains university hospital–level laparoscopic operating rooms and anesthesia equipment specifically optimized for metabolic surgery, ensuring a stable environment even for complex procedures. A fast-track system designed for patients traveling from outside the region further improves access to care and treatment efficiency.

The hospital’s medical team has also been recognized for its contributions to the advancement of metabolic and bariatric surgery in Korea, receiving an Outstanding Paper Award from the Korean Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. The institution maintains a structured treatment system as a certified metabolic and bariatric surgery center, led by certified specialists including Dr. Kim Jong-min and Dr. Sung Jong-je.

Dr. Kim Jong-min, Director of Min Hospital, stated that reaching 1,500 cases marks an important milestone. He added that the hospital will continue to establish new standards in obesity and diabetes treatment through precise patient selection, personalized surgical strategies, and comprehensive postoperative management.
