Dr. Na Joon-chae, director of the Jamsil branch of Goldman Urology Clinic, recently published a research paper proposing a standardized approach to evaluating medical institutions based on his clinical experience with Endoscopic-Combined Intrarenal Stone Surgery (ECIRS). The title of the paper is “A Proposal for Standardizing Medical Institution Evaluation Based on Experience with Endoscopic - Combined Intrarenal Stone Surgery.” The study was co - authored with Professor Park Sang - soo from the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Eulji University. The research focuses on the removal of a large, impacted kidney stone measuring 18 mm located at the ureteropelvic junction. The study analyzes a case in which the patient consulted a university hospital, a general hospital, and a private clinic before ultimately choosing a private clinic for treatment.Through this case, the paper emphasizes that hospital facilities, the surgeon’s experience, and the quality of doctor–patient communication and clinical attitude all play decisive roles in a patient’s choice of medical institution. In particular, Dr.Na proposes a new approach to evaluating healthcare institutions from the patient’s perspective. He argues that private clinics equipped with adequate facilities and specialized medical staff can safely perform complex surgical procedures. In the surgical case presented in the paper, both the university hospital and the general hospital were found to have excellent surgical equipment. However, limitations were noted in terms of insufficient communication with the patient and lack of flexibility in scheduling. In contrast, Goldman Urology Clinic, a private clinic, was recognized for having advanced surgical equipment while also providing patient - centered scheduling and effective pain management, which helped build patient trust. The findings of the study suggest that the current concentration of patients toward large university hospitals could be alleviated, and that private clinics and specialized hospitals may play a more significant role in the healthcare system. Dr.Na stated that a system for evaluating medical institutions from the patient’s perspective is necessary. He also suggested that future criteria for designating specialized hospitals should include private clinics that possess sufficient facilities and professional expertise. He added that Goldman Urology Clinic will continue striving to provide patient - centered medical services and to play a leading role in advanced urological surgery. The paper was published in the March 2025 issue(Vol. 15, No. 1) of the Journal of Standardization Certification and Safety.

Recurrent Chronic Prostatitis: Lifestyle Management and Precise Diagnosis Are Essential
Prostatitis refers to a condition characterized by inflammation in the prostate gland of men. The prostate is a tissue found exclusively in males and plays a crucial role in producing a portion of semen. Prostatitis is accompanied by various symptoms, prominently including pain, voiding dysfunction, and sexual dysfunction. Patients may experience pain in the suprapubic lower abdomen, perineal pain between the testicles and anus, or pain in the testicles, penis, or pelvis. Urinary symptoms such as frequent urination (pollakiuria), urgent urination (urgency), delayed urination (hesitancy), and nighttime urination (nocturia) are also commonly associated. Furthermore, it is not uncommon for sexual dysfunction, such as erectile dysfunction or premature ejaculation, to occur alongside these symptoms.

BPH Surgery Preserving Tissue Around the Verumontanum Achieves 92% Ejaculatory Function Preservation
Traditional benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) surgery primarily aims to remove hypertrophied prostatic tissue, thereby expanding the urethra and improving voiding function. Successful BPH Surgery: Choosing an Experienced Surgeon Is the Key
Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is a well-known condition that commonly affects men in middle age and beyond. It is particularly characterized by the prostate gland compressing the urethra, leading to various urinary disorders. In the early stages of onset, symptoms can be managed with medication, but surgical treatment becomes necessary if the prostate size is large or if there is no response to medication. Among these, Holmium Laser Enucleation of the Prostate (HoLEP) is considered a valuable treatment method that uses a holmium laser to completely enucleate the hypertrophied prostate tissue. Its primary strengths include minimal bleeding, rapid recovery, and excellent therapeutic efficacy.
