Goldman Urology Clinic recently announced the introduction of an artificial intelligence (AI) software called “URO dot AI,” which automatically analyzes non-contrast computed tomography (CT) images to detect the presence, size, and location of urinary stones.

Previously, urology specialists had to review CT images one by one when diagnosing urinary stone patients. This process required considerable time and carried the risk of missing very small stones. In contrast, URO dot AI can produce results within five minutes, improving both the speed and accuracy of patient diagnosis.

In particular, URO dot AI performs anatomical analysis of the entire urinary system—including the ureters, kidneys, and bladder—and can detect even very small stones measuring less than 4 mm that may be difficult to identify. It also displays the location and size of stones in real time, helping physicians establish more precise treatment plans.

From a patient’s perspective, the system offers significant diagnostic convenience. Rapid interpretation of imaging results allows faster pain relief in emergency situations. By accurately identifying the size and location of stones, it can also reduce unnecessary repeat examinations and avoid unnecessary surgical attempts. Additionally, it can detect small stones that might be missed on conventional X-ray or ultrasound examinations, enabling earlier diagnosis and treatment.

Clinical trials of URO dot AI have also demonstrated strong performance. In the primary effectiveness evaluation, the system achieved a sensitivity of 97.89% and a specificity of 94.12%. In the secondary evaluation, sensitivity reached 98.82% and specificity 96.67%. Notably, the detection accuracy for urinary stones larger than 5 mm in diameter was reported to be 100%.

Another important aspect of URO dot AI is that it has been officially designated as an innovative medical technology by the Ministry of Health and Welfare after its safety and effectiveness were recognized.

A representative of Goldman Urology Clinic stated that URO dot AI represents a new advancement in diagnostic technology and added that the clinic will continue striving to provide more precise and systematic medical care for patients.
