Goldman Urology Clinic announced that it has recently introduced an artificial intelligence (AI)-based urinary stone detection solution called “URO dot AI.” With the adoption of this AI system, the clinic expects to enhance both the speed and accuracy of diagnosing urinary stones, enabling faster and more precise patient care.

The newly introduced URO dot AI is software that automatically analyzes non-contrast computed tomography (CT) images to determine the presence, size, and location of urinary stones. Previously, urology specialists had to review CT images individually, which required considerable time and carried the risk of overlooking very small stones. In contrast, URO dot AI can generate results within five minutes, improving both diagnostic efficiency and accuracy.

In particular, URO dot AI performs anatomical analysis of the entire urinary tract—including the ureters, kidneys, and bladder—allowing it to detect even very small stones measuring less than 4 mm that can be difficult to identify. It also displays the location and size of stones in real time, assisting physicians in establishing more precise treatment plans.

From the patient’s perspective, the system also improves diagnostic convenience. Rapid interpretation of imaging results enables faster pain relief in emergency situations. By accurately identifying the size and location of stones, it can reduce unnecessary repeat examinations and avoid unnecessary surgical attempts. In addition, the system can detect small stones that may be missed during conventional X-ray or ultrasound examinations, allowing for earlier diagnosis and treatment.

Clinical trials of URO dot AI have demonstrated strong performance. In the primary effectiveness evaluation, the system achieved a sensitivity of 97.89% and a specificity of 94.12%. In the secondary evaluation, sensitivity reached 98.82% and specificity 96.67%. Notably, the detection accuracy for urinary stones larger than 5 mm in diameter was reported to be 100%, demonstrating a high level of reliability.

Another notable aspect is that URO dot AI has been officially designated as an innovative medical technology by the Ministry of Health and Welfare after its safety and effectiveness were recognized.

A representative of Goldman Urology Clinic stated that URO dot AI represents a new advancement in diagnostic technology and added that the clinic will continue striving to provide patients with more precise and systematic medical care.
