Goldman Urology Clinic recently announced the adoption of ‘URO dot AI,’ an artificial intelligence (AI)-based solution for detecting urinary stones. With the introduction of this AI solution, it is possible to identify urinary stones more quickly and precisely, thereby expecting a significant enhancement in the speed and accuracy of patient diagnosis and treatment.
The recently introduced ‘URO dot AI’ is a software that automatically analyzes the presence, size, and location of urinary stones based on non-contrast computed tomography (CT) images. Previously, urology specialists had to interpret CT images one by one, which was time-consuming and carried the risk of missing small stones. However, ‘URO dot AI’ generates results within 5 minutes, simultaneously enhancing both the speed and accuracy of patient care.
In particular, ‘URO dot AI’ anatomically analyzes the entire urinary tract, including the ureters, kidneys, and bladder, enabling the detection of even small stones less than 4mm that are difficult to find. Furthermore, it displays the location and size of the stones in real-time, assisting in the formulation of treatment plans.
From the patient's perspective, the diagnostic convenience is also excellent. First, rapid interpretation allows for quick pain relief in emergency situations. Additionally, by confirming the precise location and size, it reduces unnecessary re-examinations and attempts at urinary stone surgery. Moreover, it can detect even small stones that might be missed in conventional X-ray or ultrasound examinations, enabling early diagnosis and treatment.
High performance has also been proven in clinical trials of ‘URO dot AI,’ recording a sensitivity of 97.89% and a specificity of 94.12% in the primary efficacy evaluation. Subsequently, in the secondary efficacy evaluation, it showed a sensitivity of 98.82% and a specificity of 96.67%. Particularly, it achieved 100% accuracy in detecting urinary stones with a diameter of 5mm or more, securing high reliability.
Above all, ‘URO dot AI’ has been recognized for its safety and effectiveness under the supervision of the Ministry of Health and Welfare, making it even more significant as it has been designated as an innovative medical technology.
An official from Goldman Urology Clinic stated, “‘URO dot AI’ is a technology that will bring new diagnostic achievements to the diagnostic process,” adding, “We will continue to strive to provide even more precise and systematic medical care to our patients.”
