Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is a common condition in middle-aged and older men causing urinary flow reduction, incomplete emptying, frequency, and nocturia. As Korea's population ages rapidly, demand for safe and effective treatments continues to grow.

Aquablation — also known as 'Waterjet Robot Surgery' — uses a high-pressure waterjet to precisely resect enlarged prostate tissue without thermal energy. FDA-approved and recognized as a new medical technology in Korea, it minimizes complications such as incontinence and erectile dysfunction compared to traditional TURP.

The procedure uses real-time ultrasound and endoscopy guidance, with a robotic system executing the pre-planned resection. However, Dr. Kim Jae-woong of Goldman Urology Gangnam emphasized: 'The biggest advantage of Aquablation is the absence of thermal damage. But technology alone cannot guarantee results — ultimately, surgical success depends on the surgeon's skill, experience, and meticulous planning.'
