Rezūm is a minimally invasive treatment for BPH that uses thermal energy from water vapor (steam) to selectively necrotize enlarged prostate tissue. A urologist injects high-pressure steam into targeted areas of the prostate, causing controlled cell death. Over months, the necrotic tissue is naturally absorbed, expanding the urethral channel and progressively restoring urinary function.

Key advantages include minimal blood loss, feasibility under local anesthesia, relatively short recovery time, lower post-procedural pain, and preservation of sexual and ejaculatory function.

However, Rezūm is best suited for prostate glands weighing 30–80 grams; efficacy may be limited beyond 100 grams. Tissue absorption takes 1–3 months, so patients expecting immediate relief may be disappointed. Dr. Kim Byeong-hun of Goldman Urology Incheon noted: 'Rezūm offers a well-balanced profile of efficacy and safety, but the right approach is personalized based on each patient's unique clinical picture.'
