Could this be a symptom of urethritis?

I’m not sure if it’s just in my head, but when I’m at rest, I sometimes feel a very slight burning sensation in my urethra—or maybe not, it’s kind of unclear.

There is no pain when I urinate, no itching, and no frequent urination. However, I feel like my urethra is slightly warm during normal daily activities. Sometimes when I change my posture, the sensation seems to go away for a while.

Is this just something psychological, or could it be a real issue?

Also, my urine is clear in color, and there is no discharge.

Hello, this is Dr. Kyungho Ryu from Goldman Urology Clinic, Gangnam.

I understand that you may be concerned about the **possibility of urethritis** due to the mild discomfort you are experiencing in the urethra.

Typical urethritis is usually accompanied by **pain during urination or discharge (such as pus)**. However, as in your case, **subtle or vague irritation symptoms** may also require further evaluation.

Since you currently have **no pain during urination, no discharge, and no urinary frequency**, the likelihood of **acute bacterial urethritis is low**. Considering that your symptoms improve when you change posture, it is more likely related to **muscle tension around the prostate or pressure on the pelvic floor**, which can cause nerve-related irritation rather than direct inflammation of the urethra.

Additionally, **clear urine color** suggests that you are well-hydrated. In such cases, the urethral lining may become temporarily more sensitive, which can cause a **warm or mild burning sensation**.

These symptoms may be **temporary and related to psychological factors or fatigue**. However, if the discomfort persists, it would be advisable to check for inflammation through a **urinalysis**.

At our clinic, we carefully evaluate each patient’s symptoms and overall health condition based on extensive clinical experience, providing accurate diagnosis and personalized treatment plans.

Identifying the exact cause is the first step toward effective treatment.

If your symptoms persist, we recommend visiting a urology clinic for further evaluation.

Thank you, and we hope this information was helpful.
