Why does it hurt when I urinate and touch the tip of my penis?

For the past 2 days, I’ve been having pain when urinating, and it also hurts when I touch the tip of my penis (glans).

From what I can see, there doesn’t seem to be anything obviously wrong.

I tried searching online, but nothing really matches my symptoms. I read that urethritis can cause redness at the tip, but mine has always been kind of dark red, so I’m not sure if it’s actually changed.

I’m planning to visit a urology clinic this Saturday, but what condition could this be?

Hello, this is Dr. Changki Lee from Goldman Urology Clinic, Incheon.

The pain during urination and tenderness at the tip of the penis that started a few days ago may indicate an inflammatory response in the urinary tract or external mucosal tissue.

Even if there are no visible changes, mild inflammation inside the urethra or at the glans can cause discomfort, including pain when touched or a burning sensation during urination.

In cases of urethritis, visible redness is not always clearly noticeable. It can vary depending on an individual’s natural skin color, making it difficult to identify changes visually.

If pain occurs during urination, it is important to consider the possibility of bacterial infection or inflammation, and to also evaluate the condition of the prostate if necessary.

If left untreated, the inflammation may worsen or spread to other areas. Therefore, it is recommended to visit a urology clinic and undergo a urinalysis to determine the exact cause and receive appropriate treatment.

At our clinic, we carefully evaluate each patient’s symptoms and overall condition to provide accurate diagnosis and personalized treatment plans.

Identifying the cause is the first step toward effective treatment.

If your symptoms persist, we recommend seeking medical evaluation.

Thank you, and we hope this information was helpful.
