Severe itching 2 weeks after circumcision—is this normal after stitch removal?

Severe itching around the surgical site about 2 weeks after circumcision, especially after stitch removal, is commonly part of the natural healing process.

As the wound heals, nerve endings begin to recover, and new skin forms. This process can cause increased sensitivity and itching, particularly in areas where stitches were previously holding the tissue together.

Since there was mild inflammation near the frenulum, the skin in that area may be even more sensitive during the regeneration phase, leading to stronger itching sensations.

However, it is important to avoid scratching or rubbing the area, as this may cause micro-injury or secondary infection.

In most cases, the itching will gradually improve over time as healing progresses.
