I went on a trip with my girlfriend, and when we tried to have sex at night,
I couldn’t get a strong erection.
I still have morning erections, and I have no problem during masturbation,
but when it actually mattered, I couldn’t maintain an erection.
Even when I tried stimulation, it didn’t respond properly.
Does this count as erectile dysfunction?
Are there any treatment options?

Hello, this is Dr. Changki Lee from Goldman Urology Clinic, Incheon.
It is understandable to feel frustrated when an erection does not occur at an important moment.
If you are able to achieve normal erections during morning erections or masturbation, but experience difficulty only during intercourse, this is more likely due to psychological factors, commonly referred to as psychogenic erectile dysfunction.
Erectile dysfunction is generally defined as the inability to achieve or maintain an erection sufficient for satisfactory sexual activity. When symptoms occur only in specific situations, factors such as performance anxiety, stress, or pressure to perform well are often involved.
In such cases, treatment may include short-term use of erectile dysfunction medications, which help improve blood flow and restore confidence during intercourse.
Addressing psychological factors alongside medical support can significantly improve symptoms.
We recommend visiting a urology clinic for proper evaluation and guidance tailored to your condition.
At our clinic, we carefully assess each patient’s condition and provide accurate diagnosis and personalized treatment plans.
Identifying the cause is the first step toward effective treatment.
If your symptoms persist, medical evaluation is recommended.
Thank you, and we hope this information was helpful.
